Essentials for Halloween

Halloween is one of the most popular celebrations of the year. As children, we loved running around the neighborhood, going from door to door, shouting "a candy or a spell", and then having fun with pounds of candy.

Now that you've grown up and wandering around the neighborhood in costume doesn't have as much fun as it did before, it's time to take the next step: hosting the best Halloween party with your friends / family.

Who says Halloween says Harry Potter. But if ! With the dresses, the magic and all the mysterious sides, what theme can be more perfect? Chances are you've already attended Harry Potter themed parties. But here's the good news, having the same theme doesn't necessarily mean having the same party. We share some of our tips for successfully hosting one of the best Harry Potter Halloween parties.

It all starts with a good invitation

No party is a party without guests. Your invitation is a taste for your guests. Make it scary and magical enough for them to understand your Harry Potter theme. Do not hesitate to remind them of the dress code if you wish to have one.

Here is an invitation card for you, prepared by us in case you are not too inspired to create your own card.

Serve your guests unappetizing food ... or not.

Okay, we can all agree that Halloween is the only day of the year when people dare to eat unappetizing food: bleeding finger cookies, spaghetti and meatball brains, fish eyes, to name a few.

But does Halloween have to be unpleasant? This year, rather entice your guests with dishes that look magical, worthy of the biggest Hogwarts feasts.

No party is a good party without drinks! Your guests will come thirsty, expecting to be hydrated. Whether your party is alcoholic or not, the only factor that matters: the magic level of your drinks.

Harry Potter cocktailHaving drinks that "kill" is of course important, but let's not forget that this is a Harry Potter party! Your guests will surely appreciate seeing magic in your drinks. We have just for you 5 cocktail recipes inspired by the Harry Potter universe  with the right dose of magic and ladle, to stay in the theme.

To make things even more magical, drop the ordinary icicles and opt for magic icicles, either in their cute forms or in the forms of various symbols from the Harry Potter universe.

Now that you have your menu, it's time to think about decorating. If you are looking for something more traditional and magical, you can certainly transform your living room into one of the common rooms with these banners.

But since it's Halloween, why not take it to the next level and increase the scary side. You don't need to have an advanced level in magic, all you need is cheesecloth and balloons to get there. With the help of these, you will be able to invite harmless dementors to fly around you

Now there is only one more thing left before everything is ready - the costume.

At a Harry Potter Halloween party, nothing is more normal than expecting your guests to show up in witch costume. If your guests seem a little lost, here are some inspirations to provide them.

The classic look

Harry Potter classic Halloween lookWearing a Harry Potter robe seems obvious. But the important thing is also to be able to wear it in a more elegant and chic way. Pair your dress with an elegant Harry Potter sweater. Don't forget your tie to complete your full set of Hogwarts uniforms. If your guest is unsure of their Hogwarts home, invite them to find their Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin home before purchasing their own uniform. For those who want to stand out, why not add a student hat.

The sporty look

As Quidditch is the most popular sport among wizards and witches, your more active guests might be interested in a more sporty look as well, such as a Quidditch player. Just like a soccer jersey, this Quidditch dress (available in Gryffindor and Slytherin) is customizable, allowing you to put your own name and number. For the most diligent and detail-oriented guests, it is even possible to include a Nimbus 2000 in their costume. After all, which Quidditch player comes without his broom?

The champion's look

Harry Potter champion lookDressing like a champion will surely make you feel like one. Looking for a night of glory? Dress as champion of the 3 wizards tournament! You can choose your side, you can choose Harry Potter or Cedric Diggory's t-shirt. Why not match it with a scarf in your house so as not to catch a cold during your candy hunting tour.

The “fantastic” look

Newt Scamander is one of the most beloved and one of the kindest characters in the Wizarding world. It will make a fantastic look if your guest chooses to dress as Newt. To nail the look, no one can miss the symbolic Newt’s scarf with yellow and gray stripes and his bowtie. Newt is also known for owning a magical suitcase with a Muggle Worthy lock, allowing him to hide his magical secrets while wandering around muggles.

Norbert Dragonneau is one of the most beloved and kindest characters in the wizarding world. You are sure to make a misfortune in disguise like Norbert. To achieve a perfect look, you absolutely need Norbert's iconic yellow and gray striped scarf and its bow tie. To complete the look, don't forget Norbert's famous magic suitcase with its special muggle lock, which allows him to hide his magic secrets while walking around the muggle world as if nothing had happened.

Add a touch of terrifying to your look

Ok, it's Halloween. It's perfectly normal if you want to look a little more scary than usual. But the good news is that you don't have to go to the beheading to stick to the theme, just apply the appropriate makeup to do the trick!
