Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to Conquer Broadway
The play written by Jack Thorne and J.K Rowling, which has been a triumph in London since July 2016, will be performed on Broadway in New York from April 22, 2018. This news comes from producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender who announced it on the official Pottermore website. The approximately 2:30 play will be performed at the Lyric Theatre, which will be renovated for this occasion and will be divided into two parts, as will the performances in London.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and focuses on the adventures of the sons of Harry Potter and Dago Malfoy. The play broke records last April at the Olivier Awards (British equivalent of Molière), winning nine awards, including best new play.
The casting has not yet been announced but a lot of information is expected in the coming months. John Tiffany remains the director.
Tickets will go on sale this fall on the official website.
